There is no formula, no tried and true method that can get each of us there. Photography, like all art, is a process of ongoing discovery and it is the intense desire to really see the world around us that pulls us forward.

In this workshop, the beautiful backdrop of Old Bisbee will be used to explore the limitless world of digital photography. We will spend the three days with photographer Chuck Feil shooting our historic buildings, local characters, idyllic paths, and great panoramic views as an exercise in focusing less on the intellectual/technical process, and more on the creative flow of the perceptual, i.e. ‘right brain’ process of ‘seeing beyond seeing’. Spending time in the company of photographers who share this desire, and those who have been on the same journey for most of their lives, offers the possibility of discovering more about how we learn. This opens the door to continual growth, in terms of our vision, and therefore our art, and helps us understand that the joy of photography is being in that moment.

The workshop will include concentration on photography elements such light and composition and is open to all levels of experience. Critique and discussion of students' photos over the weekend will also be a part of the workshop. Participants need to be able to walk moderate distances on uneven terrain and need to own, and be familiar with, their own digital camera- newer versions of iPhones or Android will work.

Enrolled students will be emailed a list of necessary tools a few weeks before the class.

Please note: This workshop takes place over the weekend that Bisbee will be celebrating Halloween and locals will be partaking in the BRATS Art Car parade. Traditionally, both the holiday and the parade are a big deal in our tiny town and should offer students some great photo opportunities and general merriment. We recommend that those traveling to Bisbee book a place to stay ASAP due to the festivities.
