Local artist Jan Searle returns to the Bisbee Craft School to teach two of her favorite crafts: paper marbling and bookbinding. Students will learn how to make marblized paper using the Suminagashi method, which means "floating ink" in Japanese and involves floating colored paint on the surface of water and then carefully submerging paper to transfer it to the paper's surface.  Students will then use some of their paper creations to sew together journals using the Japanese stab-binding approach, which is a seven-stitch binding method. Both of these activities are fun and meditative practices with lots of possibilities for personal expression.

Manual dexterity is recommended.

Enrolled students will be emailed a list of recommended materials a few weeks before the class.
